Font Family: Tangent, Number of fonts: 16*OTF, Type Foundry: Terminal Design, Designer: James Montalbano, Design date: 2006
Having used the creation of a geometric sans to teach the principals of type design to students, the design that became Tangent emerged after the fifth or sixth such demonstration. Pointing out to students that perfect circles and squares make terrible looking letters Tangent is carefully drawn to minimize these pure geometric forms that are, more often than not, typical of the style. Its eight weights and corresponding obliques are friendly and legible in both text and display, and is a lively alternate to the overused designs that have dominated this style.
