How a Woman Should Take Care of Her Eyes

It is a well known fact that women are more prone to diseases then men. And this has again been proved by the report of World Health Organization (WHO) that clearly states that out of the total number of blind people; two thirds of them are girls and women. In fact they are more prone to suffer from different kinds of eye problem than men. However there are various ways by which one can protect their eye sight and even take proper care about them.

Before one actually follows any diet or starts any eye care regime, it is essential to find out and know whether anyone I their family had suffered from eye problems. It is helpful to know about this because then one can find out if this is a hereditary condition or not and then take precautionary measures accordingly.

Our mothers have often told us that eating the right food in the right proportion can make all the difference. We have neglected this advice often but it is a scientifically proved fact. So go ahead and make green leafy vegetables a part of your daily life. Lute in, an antioxidant that protects cells against damage is very much present in Spinach, lettuce, peas, and broccoli. As per research, dry eye happens due to the decrease in omega 3 fatty acids in the retina. Although dry eye does not lead to blindness but it can cause severe irritation from which different types of eye infection can happen. Hence it is advisable that women should consume as much fish as a regular item in their menu as different types of fish like salmon, tuna, and halibut are quite high in omega 3 fatty acids.

Another food variety that one should include in their dietary plan is Vitamin C and Vitamin E, both of which are equally important for a good eye sight. Both these vitamins are rich sources of essential antioxidants that help to maintain proper eye sight.

Proper lifestyle changes can also bring about the desired changes in one’s life. As women wear make up quite often, it is essential that they take it off properly. Say for example after returning home, they should take proper and adequate measures to clean the mascara and the eye liner, kajal or kohl simply because they can lead to infections and eye irritation is not washed off properly. And in case one wears lenses, they need to take it off after the 8 hour stretch and use the solution properly. Do not make the mistake of wearing the lenses and then going off to sleep. It can damage the cornea by scarring the retina and this can lead to blindness.

Sunglasses are not merely a stylish accessory that can change one’s appearance and look. But the correct sun glass will ensure that your eyes are protected from the harmful ultra-violet sun rays. Eye diseases like macular degeneration occur when one’s eyes are exposed to the Sun for a long duration of time. Hence all women should make it a point to opt for a sunglass that offers 90 to 100% protection against UVA and UVB radiation. And if you are into sports than it is extremely essential that wears the necessary eye protection gear in order to protect their eyes.

Most women tend to put on weight with their advanced age. As a result this weight gain can lead to diabetes and once one’s sugar levels are high in the body it will automatically lead to different types of eye ailments such as swelling of the eye that can impair normal vision. Other ailments such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy are also the result of high sugar levels in one’s body. So it is essential to follow a regular diet chart to maintain the correct weight and don’t forget to go for regular blood checkups.

Eye is one of the most vital organs in our body and it is extremely essential that we take proper care of it otherwise we will not be able to enjoy anything and everything around us.
