Water is life. Consumption of liquid element improves utilization of nutrients required by the body daily through the consumption of food.
This was said by the lawyer Karen Calero, EsSalud nutritionist, who said that drinking water helps get more vitamins and minerals in food.
He said it also helps fight constipation, dehydration and helps maintain proper digestion.
The specialist said that an adult, 70 kilos on average, should consume 2 liters of water daily , noting that consumption of this vital liquid is according to the age of the person and the climate.
He said that in summer the body loses fluids through sweat, perspiration and the right thing is to consume water to replace that loss.
He noted that the people doing half an hour of daily sport should consume 1 liter of extra water also recommended to drink water after eating food because doing before inhibits hunger.
The nutritionist said that consumption of fruit – and vegetable – , also helps combat dehydration because they contain liquids.
“Through perspiration and urine remove water, and this process is much higher between January and March, so it is important to balance this with a diet that includes fruits and vegetables rich in liquids”.
Calero said that drinking water should be six or eight glasses a day. He also clarified that must be natural or boiled water.
“You are asking people to avoid sodas or sugary drinks, because the very presence of sugar increases the caloric intake. Thus, take a glass of soda is equivalent to eating two loaves. ”
But he warned that, on the other hand, excess water consumption will cause a slight kidney damage and abdominal pain and muscle fatigue as a result of the dilution of sodium and potassium in the blood.
